I am considering purchasing a new laptop, preferably with an AMD64
CPU.
Anybody have any experience with the following HP/Compaq offerings?
HP Pavilion Compaq Presario
dv5000z - AMD Turion 64 v5000z - AMD Turion 64
dv2000z - AMD Turion 64 X2 (dual core) v3000z - AMD Turion 64 X2
Would appreciate which Linux distro you have used as well any gotchas
w.r.t. audio, video, sata devices
TIA,
The best approach is the check the modem/sound card/video combinations
with the corresponding HOWTO's at www.tldp.org (no they don't pay me a
cent BTW ;-) just a good site is all. As far as distributions go, it
doesn't really effect things except for how you think - namely how you
want to manage removing/adding packages in a way that suits you. Along
with that the distros vary in what extras they carry - for example for a
long time Slackware (not for beginners) carried a CD of only games.
