problem is none of the models listed are what I want.
which would be (1G Ram, Core Duo, normal 1.33 ratio screen)

they are all old Pentium M's

I can't find any good reviews of the newer laptops, and when I called the sales number they were clueless about Linux hardware support. in
any of the newer models.

mainly what I am worried about is some of the special laptop stuff not
working like
* external projector or (fn) key(s).
* wireles.
* suspend/hibernate.
* battery monitor (power save)

and some most of the Linux preinstalled vendors, like

seem a little expensive.

so the question is do you know of a laptop the meets my hardware
wants? can have Linux installed, ship to Canada, all at a reasonable
price?

Are you just calling computer store and asking about "retail" name brand
computers? You might have better luck if you ask about "commercial"
laptops.

I was normally going
1. to commercial sales.
2. explain the issues.
3. when they can't help me, ask for commercial help desk.
4. they can't help me.
5. hang up

The difference is cost, warrenty and usually linux support: the
aptiva/presarrio/inspiron/etc lines are designed to purely work in MS
Windows environments at minimum manufacturing cost whereas the
commercial computers are the equivalent of what you used to get when you
bought say an AT clone way back when. Make sure you use the word
commercial as then they'll know what you're talkig about. With consumer
computers they frequently have bizarre sound/video/modem combinations
that quite often just aren't supported by linux. e.g. winmodems although
that problem is somewhat lessened now.
