What modules are loaded? If the "Value" variant is anything like other SB Live cards, you should see 'snd_emu10k1' (among others) listed in the
output of 'lsmod | grep snd'.
This is the output I got
nd_seq_midi_emul 5953 1 snd_emux_synth
snd_emu10k1 105157 1 snd_emu10k1_synth
snd_rawmidi 24385 3 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_emu10k1
snd_ac97_codec 83809 1 snd_emu10k1
snd_ac97_bus 2497 1 snd_ac97_codec
snd_seq_dummy 3781 0
snd_seq_oss 28864 0
snd_seq_midi_event 7105 3 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_seq_oss
snd_seq 47665 9 snd_seq_midi,snd_emux_synth,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_seq_midi_emul,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event
snd_pcm_oss 45009 0
snd_mixer_oss 16449 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm 77381 3 snd_emu10k1,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss
snd_seq_device 9165 8 snd_seq_midi,snd_emu10k1_synth,snd_emux_synth,snd_emu10k1,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq
snd_timer 23621 3 snd_emu10k1,snd_seq,snd_pcm
snd_page_alloc 10697 2 snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm
snd_util_mem 5441 2 snd_emux_synth,snd_emu10k1
snd_hwdep 9797 2 snd_emux_synth,snd_emu10k1
snd 51141 13 snd_emux_synth,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_emu10k1,snd_rawmidi,snd_ac97_codec,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_seq_device,snd_timer,snd_hwdep
soundcore 9377 1 snd
Then use 'alsamixer' (from the command prompt) to turn up the volume on the relevant channels. Be sure to unmute them, too (with the "m" key; the sliders should *not* show "MM" at the bottom).
Done I turned everything up and unumuted that which was MM
Once you have everything setup in alsamixer, you can use 'alsactl store' to save the settings and 'alsactl restore' to load them again.
done
