I would like to buy a good scanner working under fedora 4. I want toPractically every Epson scanner ever made works Just Fine if you
scan books, pages, papers... I do not need a sophisticated scanner to
download the evil binary-only SANE backends from Epson's site on

sane-find-scanner and scanimage -L can see it though!
ISTR that the default iscan install puts a number of libraries in a
strange directory; /usr/local/lib/iscan/ , which is not likely to be in
/etc/ld.so.conf . Add that directory to /etc/ld.so.conf , then rerun
ldconfig. You may have to do the same thing with /usr/local/lib/sane/ .
