You need an expansion bus to plug in the cards, if there aren't multiple
ports on board already.
Assume I have a hardware with a switch on board. This is a two
port switch. So i am assuming that the switch will have in-built
functionality of switching the packets between the two ports. Apart
from this, we would also need some IP routing/Forwarding to be done at
the IP Layer to route packet between the two ports.
In that case you can't use the built in switch, you need two independent
Ethernet ports in your system.
