I have tried to configure an Eizo L768 19" LCD monitor connected to a MSI

installed Slackware 10.2 with X.org 6.8.2 and am using the VESA driver as
the ati driver is unable to identify the graphics chipset.
The monitor is optimized for the resolution 1280x1024, but I am unable to
get more than 1024x768. I tried to install read-edid from
http://john.fremlin.de/programs/linux/read-edid/ to verify what the
monitor is capable of and got the following:
FWIW - I recently had a similar problem with a used laptop. Native
resolution was 1024x768 but I could not get anything better that 800x600 -
no matter what I tried (turned out to be a problem with the video bios and
a dumb driver for the intel chipset which only used the bios modes). I was
able to get it working with a driver from Xi Graphics (xig.com or
xigraphics.com). It is a commercial driver, but at a reasonable price -
and, yes, they have free eval or demo drivers.
