CPU Naming Convention

Hi All,

I'm trying to understand the Intel naming convention.

It seems to be broken into Family,Model and Step, so when looking at
System Properties in w2k you get something like this:

x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3

Does anyone have a simple explanation?
