I do not know the above board, so your question might remain
unanswered. But in general, SATA by itself does not cause any trouble
*if* there are drivers for the chipset. It integrates nicely into the
SCSI subsystem and is well-supported by the 2.6.xx kernel series. Just
make sure you get a relatively recent distribution.
