ext3 resizing partition and yast woes

Hi all

I'm not a highly skilled linux admin, so forgive me. I'll try and give

as much info as possible.


I have a Suse Enterprise Server 8 box. It's attached via fibre HBA to
a SAN. Kernel is 2.4.21-215-smp.


I need to resize one of the partitions to give it some more free space.



My issue is, the partition in question, /dev/sdc1, does not appear in

Yast2 Partitioner's list. All the others are there, and the /dev/sdc
device is there, just not the partition on it (there's only one). So,

with it not appearing in Yast, I can't resize it.


Weird.


So, I go into "fdisk /dev/sdc" to see what that says - it shows the
following output:

There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)

So far so good? That looks ok to me.


If I go into "parted /dev/sdc" this has a different result, and I don't

know if it's an issue or not.

32635/255/63. Therefore, cylinder 1024 ends at 8032.499M.

Is this an issue? Or is it a problem with the 'parted' utility..


The partition in question is mounted and working fine, and is 247 GB in

size. It contains all our live Oracle data files and is quite happily
ticking along.
