Re: Need info on data recovery Where to go? Pls Thnks

well.... thank you....

the problem seems (and maybe is ) simple.
on a disk (fat32 partition) i had a directory with many directireis in it
(60g of music).
one day my 'root' directory with 60g of music is no more seen as a direcrory
which I could open but seen as an unknown file.
That's it. Seen of course in windows. I checked with Partition magic all 60g
are there but unaccessible.
I vaguely heard that there is sth to be done with Disk edit but what I don't
know...

Thanks again if you can direct me

But maybe somebody knows where (forum?) I could discuss data recovery

Thank you veru much

I don't think it's off topic. I've rescued myself a couple of times - once
from a hard disk failure by copying the vital partitions, and once from a
partitioning error. If you'd like to be a little more explicit, I expect
folks here could help.

If it's a dying disk - don't mount any partition on it. Boot a Live CD
after installing a new disk, and copy out the data you need to save using
dd.
