has anyone installed a linux (my plan--gentoo) on the shuttle sd37p2?

chipset 975x express + ich7r
realtek alc882
broadcom BCM5789
via firewire

any surprises awaiting the unwary, or will this all "just" work? (I
can use an external USB CD for installation. I heard rumors that there
are problems with the cd-rom.) which kernel drivers should I use? do
newer kernel versions (2.6.18-pre?) have something that works better
with this system here? thanks for any advice.
