Looks like HP dv1000t was discontinued

Looks like the bastards at HP discontinued dv1000t while I was
agonizing over the config.
Short of funneling the $1000 budgeted to the hi-fi equipment is there a
well supported laptop
of good quality with most of the internals supported well by Linux? I
want a non glare screen
and good battery life (which is exactly what dv1000t provided).
I'm so pissed off that I'm just inclined to give PC industry no money
and lug the laptop
provided by my employer back and forth :-[
