Canon PowerShot cameras do not play well with Linux GUI apps for
downloading photos. I have a PowerShot A540, same problem. However, if
you install "gphoto2" you will have no problems detecting and
downloading photos - but it is a command line application.
I personally have had no issues using my PowerShot G3 with digiKam. BTW
digiKam already uses gphoto2 for connecting to digital cameras.
To the OP. When you say the system 'no longer' connects to your camera,
what do you mean? Did it used to work and now you've changed something
it doesn't work anymore? Have you installed updates or something? Try
and undo whatever you did before it stopped working.
