Hi everyone,
After some strange bugs on one of our linux servers, I checked its memory with memtest86, which detected some errors. The memory is an ECC one.
Do one knows any tool under linux to determine which slot is buggy, without having to test each slot separately ?
Since it's ECC memory, there's a chance that you might see something useful from 'dmidecode'. A properly functioning ECC module on this system reports:
Handle 0x0017, DMI type 17, 27 bytes
Memory Device
Array Handle: 0x0016
Error Information Handle: No Error
Total Width: 72 bits
Data Width: 64 bits
Size: 1024 MB
Form Factor: DIMM
Set: 1
Locator: DIMM#1A
Bank Locator: Bank 1
Type: DDR
Type Detail: Synchronous
Speed: 266 MHz (3.8 ns)
Manufacturer: Not Specified
Serial Number: Not Specified
Asset Tag: Not Specified
Part Number: Not Specified
It's possible that it might show an ECC error in that info. I'm not sure.
