I thought I'd done that. But it turns out that the spare SATA1 drive I
purchased wasn't completely compatible. There was a SATA data cable, of
course. But the drives in the desktop used one type of power connector
while the drive I ordered had a different type of power connector.
It never occurred to me that this would be variable!
