That question is too vague to answer properly. It depends on the extact
model, the amount of processor load you expect, and how much
performance you require (ie. performance per watt).

XP able to run on Athlon 64 as well

Yes. The Athlon64 cpu can also run in 32-bit mode.

Anyway, why are you even looking at Athlon XPs? They are almost extinct
and are certainly not worth considering in a new setup.
