And please no comments that i should use a special router (my
girlfriend forces me to reduce the number of cables on her desktop).

You have to contact your ISP and ask what standard their DSL modems
conform to. There are about 3 standards that are currently supported
worldwide for DSL modems, with at least two others that have become
obsolete.

The only other issue you have to look into is the company itself, to
see about driver support. Because it's an internal DSL modem, it'll
need a driver to work, and there have been a lot of orphaned modems
that do conform to existing standards, but are useless as they lack
drivers for winXP. That's why an ethernet model is preferred.

My German's really quite bad (can't read a word, actually), but the
auction text seems to say that the modem does support win98, ME,
2000, and XP. So, the only other issue is whether the modem and your
local DSL standards are compatible. You'll have to do your own
homework on that one.

Obviously, there's no guarantee that it will still be supported once
Vista's released. Again, that's why an ethernet model is preferred,
it takes that bit of uncertainty out of the equation.

Sorry, forgot to look at the newsgroup header before answering.
However, the recommendation still applies. Using an ethernet modem
means that you don't have to worry about drivers, regardless of the
OS. You'd just need a network card, and Network card drivers are
MUCH easier to track down for just about any OS, and if you have bad
enough luck that your network card isn't supported, you can easily buy
a cheap Realtek one for about $5.
