I am trying to install Debian (Sarge 3.1) onto a machine built around a:

using the network install CD. But when I get to the "partitioning drives"
point in the process, it complains about not seeing the drives.
I've tried both expert26 and expert (which I believe is installing with a
2.4 kernel).
Any suggestions how to make this work?
sarge might be too old to include the drivers for the SATA chipset, so it cannot see the disks. Try "etch".
