Hi there,
I've got some money and want to buy a cheap and small laser printer
for me. You may give me hints which printer to buy. I have to say that
I am not an expert in printing issues and therefor I um unsure about
the right printer.
The printer will be used for typical SoHo purposes. So I do print text
documents for me and sometimes I create text documents for a small
group of people. A laser printer would save money for ink, it's much
faster than ink printers and the quality is excellent. So a laser
printer is a must.
Most documents I print are created with OpenOffice.org but I also use
LaTeX to write larger documents for school or other stuff. As I read
on the web site the ML-2010 does not support PostScript. Will I be
able to print both OOo2 and PostScript documents using CUPS under
Gentoo? If this is possible (without a bunch of work to get it
started!) I would prefer this device. Do you know any issue with this
thing?
Would be nice of you leave some comments if you know this device or
can say anything in general about the document format I will be able
to print.
Kind regards

That should be fine. Both Samsung and Brother have good linux support.
Worst case, you can always print PS docs from within GS - but that should
not be necessary. I have a PCL Brother HL1440 and I can easily print PS
directly to the printer.
