Hi,
I just installed Kubuntu and I am trying to get my exsisting HW to work.
Up to now all internet, disc, Samba and USB audio related stuff seems to
work.
I still have work to do on my scanner, PDA and Roland USB midi keyboard.
Can anyone help me with my scanner ?
Canon 4200F
on SANE it is listed as unsupported.
is there another way to get it to work ?
Not likely. You either need an open-source driver (and if there was one, sane-project.org would list it) or a closed-source driver from Canon (which there isn't). Unfortunately Canon scanners are among the least supported under since Canon will neither release specs nor provide a closed-source driver. Epson and HP scanners are better supported, thanks to more co-operative manufacturers.
Any help for the PDA (MIO168) and keyboard (Roland G70) is also welcome
The Roland G70 is listed with "unknown" status at alsa-project.org. You might have luck with the snd-usb-midi driver if the keyboard supports standard USB protocols. Try 'modprobe snd-usb-midi' followed immediately by 'dmesg | tail' (both as root) and see what it says.
