I have opensuse 10.2 and a HP LaserJet 1100A parallel laser printer.
Drivers for this printer is available. I have them. My problem is I
cannot find any printer in parallel port. If I could find the printer
I would install the drivers.
In system logs there's an error message like this:
May 26 21:28:14 suse kernel: parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778)

May 26 21:28:14 suse kernel: parport0: Printer, Hewlett-Packard HP

The kernel found the parallel port at 0x378, but then it looks for a
port at decimal 378 (0x17a).

Then why I cannot find anything on parallel port do you think? When I
write echo something > /dev/lp0, it doesn't print anything. And
printer setup utility hp-setup cannot find any printer on parallel
port neither.
Am I missing something? Should I do something about 0x17a error?
Thanks,
