motherboards" I was referring to motherboards which can use more than
one processor simultaneously.
So, is there such a motherboard for AM2 processors?
The AM2 is the desktop socket, it supports one processor chip only. The
Athlon 64 X2 is a dual core processor so the limit of the socket AM2
boards is currently two cores. There will be a quad core A64 next year
which might plug into the current boards. It will be socket AM2+ but
there is some chance it will be compatible with existing AM2 boards.
If you want more than two cores in an AMD system today you'll have to get
an Opteron motherboard (Socket F) which can support between two and eight
processor chips. Intel has the QX6700 which is two Core2 E6700s bolted
together in the same package, that will give you 4 cores on a desktop
(Core2) motherboard.
