After 7 days, my ASUS P5N-E SLI crapped out. I came home tonight andBTW: it's usually the power supply that goes. Does it smell burnt at all? Don't forget, the power supply gives more than just 3 voltages. I just replaced one on a system that did pretty much what you described except for the HDD light.
found the computer non-responsive. Pressing the reset button had no
effect. Pressing the front panel power switch had no effect. Only
unplugging the power supply shut it off.
Power supply voltages appeared to be OK (+5, +3.3, +12) when measured
at the ATX power connector. CPU cooler appeared to be cold...?
HDD activity light on all the time, even with HDD unplugged.
Did this M/B byte the big one? Any thoughts?

Your board, and the rest of the system, should be under warranty if it's only been 7 days. Take it back to where you got it and let them figure it out. :)
