I put together my new high-end workstation using this baby:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131146

When the quad-core processors are reasonably priced I can upgrade and have eight cores. Not that I need eight-cores, but the bragging rights can't be passed up. :)

One downside to this MB. It has FakeRaid, not true RAID, so you need to load a driver into each OS. This turned out to be a big problem because I wanted to stripe two drives for speed and dual boot both Linux and Windows XP.

This is NOT a budget motherboard.

But only 4 slots, of which 1 is a (nearly useless) pci-1x.

ARGHH!!!

Why do manufacturers skimp on slots? Especially on mobos that expensive?????
