Re: Fuijitsu/Siemens Lifebook 4215 driver

Hi,

I have a Celsius H240 (your sound card appears to be the same) and I'm running a 2.6.19/3 custom kernel:

Cannot help you here I'm afraid.

- the sound is dead. It is supposed to be an hda_intel sound, but
nevertheless, alsa reports "no such device". The kernel log reveals
"hda-intel: no codecs initialized", but lspci reports the chipset
as

"Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition
Audio Controller (rev 02)"

My lspci -v shows:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
Subsystem: Fujitsu Limited. Unknown device 1397
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 23
Memory at f0600000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [60] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable-
Capabilities: [70] Express Unknown type IRQ 0
Capabilities: [100] Virtual Channel
Capabilities: [130] Unknown (5)

I think I had trouble with the kernel driver for this card. In the end I selected "ALSA" as a module and enabled "Intel HD Audio" under "PCI devices" (latter step is maybe not necessary). Then after building and installing the kernel and modules I manually downloaded and installed the "alsa-driver-1.0.14rc2" from the ALSA project. (At this time there is an actual release).

- Last but not least, wireless seems to cause trouble as well. This is
an (according to lspci):

intel PRO/Wireless 3945AGB Network Connection (rev 02)

I'm afraid I cannot help you here either as the Celsius has an Atheros card. I am using "ndiswrapper" for my card without problems.

Regards,

Richard
