Deconstructing a laptop screen

Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the backlight layer from a laptop screen? If so, any suggestions on how to go about doing that?

I'm not talking about the bulb, but the layer that spreads the light across the screen.

My goal is to attach it to the back of an aquarium to backlight my fish.
