And this would be useful for what......?

A number of things. Although I've never had that many aliases on one
NIC, I've used this before on a gateway box. Things with destination
n.n.n.131 got sent to machine X, things with destination n.n.n.132 got
sent to machine Y, things with destination n.n.n.133 got sent to machine
Z. This allowed all of X, Y, and Z to run sshd on port 22 and made them
all reachable over the wide net.

For a webserver, multiple IPs seem a little less useful since Apache has
VirtualHost. But maybe Jack will enlighten us.
