USB video-capture dongle with Linux support?

I see a lot of inexpensive USB video-capture devices for sale on eBay
and elsewhere, but hardly any of them specify the chipset inside.
Are any specific brands known to work decently under Linux?
I'd prefer one that can be bus-powered, while supporting USB 1.1 for
at least single-image capture (USB 2.0 for full-motion is OK), and
without a TV tuner -- Composite / S-video only. Image quality isn't a
major concern.
Most USB drivers in linux/drivers/media/video seem to be for webcams,
rather than video capture. Is saa7115.c the only one?
Any suggestions would be appreciated...
thanks,
