I see a lot of inexpensive USB video-capture devices for sale on eBay

Are any specific brands known to work decently under Linux?
I'd prefer one that can be bus-powered, while supporting USB 1.1 for
at least single-image capture (USB 2.0 for full-motion is OK), and
without a TV tuner -- Composite / S-video only. Image quality isn't a
major concern.
Most USB drivers in linux/drivers/media/video seem to be for webcams,
rather than video capture. Is saa7115.c the only one?
Any suggestions would be appreciated...
thanks,
I use the WinTV PVR USB2. Works fine. That one has a hardware
encoder in it. It handles composite and svideo input. It requires
an adapter (power). It has a tuner... standard def, NTSC and PAL.
All options are exposed under /sys and tweakable. Since what you get
is mpeg2/mp3, capturing couldn't be simpler (cat /dev/video >my-vid.mpg)
We had someone demo the WinTV HVR 950 at our local LUG's Linux Fair.
Seem to work pretty well. That one doesn't have a hardware encoder...
but does handle HD. But doesn't have the jacks you want... but IS
bus powered. Like most that don't encode, your machine has to
encode the video into something appropriate.
Not sure if there is an exact fit out there (??).
