Hi folks,
I even tried without *any* encryption for the wireless, but
still no-go. iwconfig reports the router, and gives me an excellent link
quality, it just won't connect.
For the records: The problem is now solved. Just in case someone else
has the same problem:
o) For the network, one *has* to
- download and compile the ipw3945 kernel module version 1.2.0 or larger,
- *and* install the proper user-space driver ipw3945d
- *and* install the firmware
- *and* (and this is where I failed) compile and install the ieee80211
subsystem. The one delivered by the 2.6.22.5 kernel is *not* recent
enough to get the wireless working.
o) For proper sound, one has to patch hda/patch_sigmatel.c of the alsa
system. The bug is here that the sigmatel codec indicates a pin with
zero connections. The patch has been reported on the kernel mailing list
and on the alsa bug tracker, so it's hopefully fixed for the next release.
o) For proper usage of the Wacom screen, just follow the tutorials on
the web. The wacom of the T4210 is attached to the serial port
/dev/ttyS0. Interestingly, this is how it works for Debian. Susie seems
to put it somewhere else, but I don't know where (and I don't care as I
don't use Suse).
IOW, the laptop now just works as it should. Oh well, yeah, sensor
output is still missing, but that's a low-priority issue currently.
So long,
Thomas
