Could OpenSUSE 10.3 RC1 be the right choice?
Ubuntu 7.x (Feisty Fox?) might have worked for me; I might have had to
pick up the driver elsewhere.
But it's in the kernel now (Device Drivers -> Network device support ->
Wireless LAN -> Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection) so pretty
much anybody has (or will have) support for it.
