Hi,
I find that I need to shut down (power off) and restart
the computer after burning any dvd with growisofs (or
any other utility that depends on it). Only after doing
this can I burn another CD or DVD. If I don't do this
the computer just hangs when attempting to burn and
becomes unresponsive to any key pressed from the
keyboard (not even alt-cntrl-del).
Chances are pretty good that you don't.
The reality is far more likely that you've simply jumped
to the conclusion that you have to reboot to "fix the
problem". The fact that rebooting does "fix the problem"
doesn't mean it's the actual solution.
You've really not told us anything. You think there
is some magic problem, and that rebooting will magically
fix it.
You need to be looking in your logs to see what messages
are being sent there. Likely there is a really good clue
somewhere in there.
Until you can come up with real symptoms, nobody can
provide a solution, because we don't know what's going on.
