I'm in the market for a network media player for my living room. I've
found several, but many require specific software running on the server
PC. This means that the server needs to be running some flavour of Windows
for the most part.
My file server is running Debian etch 4.0r1, with an FTP server and some
Samba shares.
Can someone suggest a network media player appliance that will work with a
Linux server?
P.s. I don't want a PC running in my living room. I'm looking for a box
that is as simple to install and operate as a DVD player or cable TV box.
Thx!
Google for mvpmc and the hauppaug (SP) MVP. I use one successfully here, no
windows in sight! Serves up mpeg2 using mythtv as a backedn and mp3 music
via slimserver perfectly...
