You have said this card has mpeg2 output. I don't really need hardware
mpeg2 support. Will it be supported by such tv software as xdtv, kdetv,
tvtime or something else with nice gui and easy channel control? I'm
afraid not, but I'm not certain.
I rather need something with working vbi device and good support for
tuning channels.

Not sure about software support. The hardware mpeg2 is intersesting
since it makes for easy pvr usage (regardless of a pre-canned sw app).
You can just set up a fifo file, redirect /dev/video to it, and then
you can move forward and backwards on the file.

TV guides... have not idea. So many now are subscription only ($$$).

I haven't looked into fancy gui frontends... my point is that it
has to be the EASIEST device to integrate into one... but that doesn't
mean that somebody has actually done the (trivial) work to do so.
