Warning when using USB TV cards:
They tend to draw 0.5A to 1A of power, specially if you are watching
DigitalTV or HDTV. Therefor use the USB cables that comes with the
USB TV card. Most of them will plug in to 2 USB ports on your
computer to draw the required amperage. I would personally use a
external USB2 powered hub so it reduces the power drawn from the
motherboard.
I found this out the hard way. It worked for about 6 months, but what
I didn't know was that it was slowly frying the power chips on my
Motherboard. Then I started getting power related failures and
computer restarts when any USB device was plugged in.
BTW I use AverMedia A828 TV Hybrid FM Volar TV Tuner.
For today I only can watch analog TV in my country, so power requirements probably shouldn't be so important for me?
I've looked through for this card (AVerTV Hybrid+FM Volar) and it seems to be support for Linux from AverMedia! Here are the drivers: http://www.avermedia.com/EN/default.aspx?TYPE=test.htm&PT=downloadD1&tv_TCAT_POS=0&CATNO0=D&IDX=2.1&CNT=1&CATNO1=D2&UCN=BAA4c&PID=4710710671556
Does anybody have an experience with these drivers? Does analog tv work properly and stable? Does tuning channels via vbi device work? Does sound work?
It's that what I'm searching for, but I want to know if Linux drivers really work with it.
