By "cold start" I meant that the system is starting after being off for
hours. How could a CPU be at 50°C if the power is off?
It's not off when you are reading the temperature, it's been on long
enough for you to get into the BIOS which is probably 30 seconds or so.
If the heatsink is filthy or badly seated then the CPU can heat up really
fast. Cleaning the heatsink and replacing the thermal compound is really
easy, it will only take you a few minutes. My laptop was behaving this
way because the heatsink was filthy. I took the heatsink off, cleaned the
top of the CPU and the heatsink with alcohol, put on a little Zalman
thermal paste and put the heatsink back on. The problem was fixed.
