It IS an issue. I don't WANT to use a 32-bit version of Firefox - I
want to use the 64-bit version - because it's one of the applications I
use the most frequently and I want as much performance out of it that I

Until Sun can get their act together, I don't need Java that badly.Err, there *is* java 64 bit available since 2004... You don't need the
plugin, that is.
The Java plugin IS Java as far as most people are concerned. What would
you use Java for except to execute Java code from websites. However my
point was that you don't have to wait for a 64 bit Java plugin to take
advantage of 64 bit Linux. 32 bit Firefox works fine on 64 bit Linux, in
fact most if not all 32 bit Linux programs will work fine on 64 bit
Linux. There is no reason for a Linux user to be reluctant to move to 64
bit Linux because it has excellent backwards compatibility, it's very
mature, and all of the drivers work. It's not like Vista where there are
no drivers and terrible backward compatibility.
