I just assumed, wrongly apparently, that SuSE 10.3 64bit or FC 8 would
install as they have on other Intel MB's. But this was a wrong assumption.

The Intel web site says that this MB does not support Linux which I wish I
had read before purchase.
Am I stuck with making this a Windows 64 bit machine or is there a Linux
distribution which would work 'out of the box' ?
I see no reason why it shouldn't work, but it might take a fairly recent
kernel to get everything running optimally. When I migrated a box at home
from an Abit KN8 to an Intel DP35DP, I had to upgrade the kernel from 2.6.22
to 2.6.23 to get support for the onboard network controller. Other than
lack of network support, though, it booted OK on the older kernel (once I
had RAM that would work properly with the board, but that's another matter).
(I use Gentoo; the kernels I use with it are built from the gentoo-sources
ebuilds. With other distros, YMMV.)
