iPod Classic, journaled hfsplus (hfs+) and linux

I got an iPod Classic. And I got into a DRM nightmare, of course. After
some unsucessful testing with gtkpod (just after unboxing it, it was
able to be mounted without any hfs+ support), and with iTunes, and after
some hacking into iPod_Control which forced the iPod to restart and
iTunes to stop saying it was unable to access the device contents, I got
it working with iTunes (on an OS X computer).
Now, I'm trying it again with gtkpod, and before getting any result, I
found that it was mounted read-only, because writing to the journaled
hfs+ filesystem is not recommended.
After some googling, I found out that this is expected, and that a
solution is to disable journaling using an Apple OS X computer. (A more
drastic one being reseting the iPod using iTunes on Windows.)
But is there any way to solve this just using linux? (I have no Mac OS X
or Windoze computer available here) Or is there any mature hfs+
journaled (writing) support?
