You didn't do your homework, before you spent your money. The best possible
solution for you is to format the partition as vfat and start over. Next
time, avoid apple proprietary filesystems at all costs.
I wouldn't. If in desperate need, buy another, and experiment with
that. Are they cheap where you live?.
Is it possible to initialize an iPod and make it accept stuff sent to it
via USB without using iTunes?
I still have a week to excange it by another [iPod] or to get the money
back. (We have this here, I dunno if it's something in law or a service
provided by the shop. Of course I could just get the money and buy some
non-DRM stuff, I'm also doing (or trying to do) research on that.)
