I have a linux computer with ubuntu.
This is actually irrelevant if everything else you described is
accurate. If a box won't POST [Power On Self-Test], then the OS doesn't
matter.
I switched my motherboard to a bigger case and connected all [the
connectors]. I switched on the power, dead!!! Nothing happens.
What else changed? Power supply? Make sure that's connected properly.
Now the standard is the normal ATX connector *and* another 4 or 6 or
8-pin connector. In general, both have to be plugged in. It is
possible that your board has a 6 or 8-pin connector and your power
supply has a 4-pin extra plug. If so, try the extra plug in all
positions where it fits. Also, check the red/black order of the power
switch. If you don't get that right, if might not work.
I remove the [connectors] and put [the board back] into the old
case[,] still nothing happens.
Did you try to turn it on after you put it back into the old case?
Is there a way to check if the [motherboard] is broken?
Not that easily, but if there's power going to it, it should at least
give you some VGA output or at the very least a series of POST beeps.
When I switch on the power[,] should not the fan be running[?]
The power supply fan should start up when you push the power switch.
Also, check the power supply itself. A lot of the better power supplies
have a switch on their rears which can be on or off. When it's off, no
power will flow to the ATX connector. Ah well, HTH anyway,
