Re: Install Linux on an external USB disk

Hi,
I'd like to install Linux on an Acer Aspire 2920, but I don't want to
touch
the disk that came with this laptop.

My question: do you think that if I -temporarily- remove the original
disk to
replace it with the other one, then install Linux (I'm considering
CentOS) on
this drive, then remove it and re-plug the 1rst disk, to then put my
Linux disk
in my external USB box, I will encounter problems to boot from it ?
Or should I try to set everything up from the beginning on my 2nd
external
disk already in its enclosure, to make sure I won't encounter config
problems ?

(when booting from a USB connexion or from the internal sata connexion
in
my laptop, does it make a difference for the operating system ?)

Thanks.
Regards,
Sébastien

Why not just get a new drive, stick it in your usb enclosure... install
linux to it... then reboot your laptop using the usb drive instead of the
harddrive in your laptop? A lot easier....
