Thanks for that suggestion...I hadn't considered that. Can "Damn Small
Linux" run off of a CD (or even a floppy)? I DO have both floppy and CD
drives on that computer, and I can set the computer to boot off either
one of them. (I don't think I've got an unused partition anywhere...if
I can't run off of the CD or floppy, maybe I could use the partition
that I'm currently using for swap to run DSL?)
You also could use a "System Rescue Disk" it has plenty of
tools on it. But I too would just rip out the old HDD and
temporarily connect it in the new, partition the new HDD (or
first install a OS) and then just simply copy all files from
the old HDD. The days are long past that one looses warranty
when opening the PC, unless of course the new one is
Lap-top.
After the transfer of the filers you can return the HDD into
the old box.
