Okay, I've been trying to figure this out for three weeks, so I guess
it's time to see if someone out there knows the answer. If there's a
better group to post in, I couldn't find it, but I'd be happy to hear
(serious) suggestions.
Basic problem: We need two or more new drive caddies and have no idea
what brand or type to look for.
I have an older server with an external esata drive enclosure. The
drive enclosure has four possible places to mount disks, though we're
currently using only two. The drive enclosure has no name on it I can
find, though it does have a serial number. But, no brand name, no
model name, no model number.
The drives use caddies that have no markings on them at all.
The caddies have the follow characteristics:
. Standard size drive (not the small ones)
. Two sets of two springs on each side of the drive. Springs are a
single bent piece of metal mounted horizontally. Sets are mounted
with springs one above the other about two inches from front of caddy
and five inches from front of caddy.
. Caddy sides come halfway up the drive.
. Caddy front: On right is a pull-out lever hinged on right. The
lever is locked in place by a small, uh, lever that when you push it
to the right, unlocks the pull-out lever. On far left are decorative
fins/lines/plastic that curve in toward locking lever.
. Caddy is secured by two small quarter circles on right.
If this sounds at all familiar to anyone please let me know. If
needed, I could provide pictures, but guesses would be welcome as well
-- this is driving me crazy.
Thanks,
Sean.
Is it possible to post a link to a photo of the drive enclosure and
the server?
