Worked find and saw the memory and HD I slapped in it as it should. So, I installed centos in it. When it came time to reboot, it went all the way to the "hey, chief! I am about to reboot!" message... but did not go any farther than that. If I manually reset/cycle the machine, it works fine, but whenever I try to reboot it, it hangs there. I have not tried yet a brand new power supply I have here doing nothing, so I do not know if that is an issue.
Anyone?
Can't be sure without more info but this sounds like it hangs
during shutdown, not during reboot.
Good question. I was wondering if it finished shutting down but was not sending the signal to reboot the machine. Let me try to shut it down without asking it to reboot.
Ok, when I tell it to shut down, it does work without a problem. Last message on screen is acpi_something and then it turns the machine off before I finish reading it. I can live with that.
Now, if I tell it to reboot, the last message it shows on the screen is
Restarting system
..
and that is as far as it goes. If I want it to reboot, I will then have to either press the reset switch or power it off and on.
Does the above give any new clues?
