These days, for radio; to be able to listen WHEN you want,
streaming the data held at the transmitter-side is
advised. Since I haven't got streaming capabilities
[my data Rx is expensive], could I easily :
for specific periods [using crond],
convert the radio audio output and store to IDE;
and then d/l and listen to the data, later?
Does this require a 'sound-card' or are there smaller
and cheaper devices these days?
I don't know any sound card that has a radio receiver, but at least some TV
receivers have radio receivers.
Is there some standard utility to do this?
Don't know, but a simple batch script using ffmpeg or mencoder to grab the
audio from a video4linux device should do the trick.
Regards.
