the current crop of trash LCD monitors

I looked at the current crop of the monitors.
What you could get in 22" is 1920x1080
going up to 24" yields a whopping 1920x1080.

27"? You guessed it! 1920x1080 is what you'd typically get.

I have a failing EIZO T965 that I have absolutely ZERO desire to
replace with a monitor
with 1080 vertical resolution (heck, 17" macbook pro has 1920x1200, at
least as an option)

What is going on in LCD land progress wise?

It seems that LCD R&D has been stagnant for half a decade or more.

Not a single LCD monitor review on tomshardware in the last few years

Are there any half decent sub $500 monitors with at least 1200
vertical to replace the freaking T965
that is no longer made for like a decade now?
