ksysguard (a kde system utility) has some nice "sensors" for Disk
Throughput. The sensor for "Disk Throughput" will refer to each drive with
something like "3:0" in the sensor browser list. This refers to the major
and minor device number for your drive. Do a "ls -l /dev/sda" to see what
the values are for your scsi drive. ksysguard is my first choice for all
system monitoring -- it's easy to setup and use.
There's also the "sar" line command. It's part of the "sysstat" package
under debian and redhat. Unfortunately, it's a lot more difficult to deal
with than ksysguard.
