I don't know where to find the md5sum of the CD. It's a Pink Tie CD
from Cheapbytes. md5sum /dev/cdrom isn't likely to be accurate because
the inability of my CD reader reliably to read the CD is precisely why
I'm in this mess. The mediacheck option on the CD fails (for the one CD
player, though not for others).

The man page for up2date talks of upgrading packages only, not upgrading
the entire distribution.
