hi there...
i have to port an environmental data
aquisition/processing/presentation application from hp-ux to linux. so
far so good. the problem is that it uses hpux's starbase graphics
library for its plotting routines. the featured plots are highly
customized, but before rewriting all of the routines in OpenGl, i am
trying to find some kind of toolkit / library / motif widget set which
maybe could provide the needed functionality:
rendering of 2d xy plots in cartesian / polar coords.,
featuring line, stairstep and bar graph display,
lin / log axes, time series display
(date / time info at tick marks)
the ability to display multiple lines per plot,
placement of additional y-axes
(more than 2 would be superb...)
handling of missing / invalid data
(leaving gaps in the line or diff. color)
support of international fonts
(esp. german and eastern european languages)
postscript output for hardcopy (vectorized)
mouse interaction
(ruler w. value display, zoom into time series plots)
integration into a motif gui
( some kind of canvas / drawable motif/X widget ...)
customizable through some kind of api
i already looked at several packages, including:
opendx,
xrt / graph widgets,
vtk,
plplot,
gnuplot,
dislin,
etc.
but none of the packages could provide all of the needed features....
if anybody knows some package(OSS or commercial) which could satisfy
these needs i'd highly appreciate any suggestions.
regards,
D.Goldfarb
